Harry Redknapp reckons there is ‘every chance’ Ryan Giggs will be the next Swansea boss – and claims he can be a success at the Welsh club so long as he appoints an experienced assistant.
The Swans are on the brink of sacking Francesco Guidolin and, according to widespread reports, are preparing turn to Manchester United legend Giggs as the Italian’s replacement.
Redknapp believes it would be a great place for the Welshman to kick off his managerial career but has advised the 42-year-old he would need to bring in a trusted old head alongside him to make the job work.
Discussing the managerial situation at the Liberty Stadium on Drivetime, Redknapp said: “The talk on the grapevine is that Ryan will be the next manager of Swansea.
“I’ve been hearing that for a couple of weeks now, so there is every chance that could happen.
“What he needs is to take someone he knows well, someone with experience, in with him.
“He wouldn’t get a Steve Bruce – he is a manager in his own right – but somebody like that. Somebody he has played with that can work with and help him with the difficult times that do come along when you’re a young manager.”
