Hammers win red card appeal

West Ham have won their appeal against the red card issued to Cheikhou Kouyate at the weekend and he will now be able to face Arsenal.

The Senagal international was sent off by referee Mark Clattenburg for a foul on Dwight Gayle of Crystal Palace but the FA have upheld the appeal and he can now face the Gunners.

An FA statement read: “An Independent Regulatory Commission has today [Tuesday 5 April 2016] upheld a wrongful dismissal claim in relation to West Ham UnitedÂ’s Cheikhou Kouyate.

“The player, who was dismissed for serious foul play during the game against Crystal Palace on Saturday [2 April 2016], will therefore not serve any suspension.”
