West Ham have reportedly decided not to continue their pursuit of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and instead concentrate on a top striker.
It had been widely reported that the Hammers would move for Chamberlain or his team-mate Theo Walcott in the summer – or maybe even both – but that idea has apparently now been shelved.
Instead their main transfer target will be a high-quality striker and they are already said to be in a battle with neighbours Spurs for the signature of Marseille marksman Michy Batshuayi.
Liverpool frontman Christian Benteke has also been linked, although much would depend on how much the Reds wanted for a man they paid more than £30m for last summer and who has had a poor campaign.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has had a another injury-plagued campaign, much like Walcott, and it would appear the Hammers have now switched targets.
