Sunderland have not given up hope of landing West Ham striker Diafra Sakho despite having an initial bid turned down.
Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce is after a strike partner to play alongside Jermain Defoe and made a reported £11million move for Sakho earlier this month but that was turned down by the Hammers.
Since then he has been linked with a host of other possible target, Swansea’s Bafetimbi Gomis being the latest, but Allardyce has not given up hope of landing the 26-year-old Sakho.
Sunderland would almost certainly have to pay around the £15million the Hammers are demanding before they could land the striker and they may have to be patient as West Ham are not in a rush to sell until the find their own replacement.
