West Ham defender Reece Oxford could be loaned out to Championship outfit Newcastle United next season to boost his development.

The Sun claim Newcastle are ready to offer Oxford the chance to play on a regular basis next season, but the likelihood of the Hammers agreeing to any such proposal looks slim.

West Ham want the England Under-18 starlet to sign a new contract and will be aware that he has been linked to both Manchester United and Manchester City in recent transfer speculation.

Manager Slaven Bilic would want to keep Oxford close in order to persuade him his long-term future should be at the Olympic Stadium and the youngster will almost certainly get opportunities in pre-season and the Europa League.

A season-long loan in the Championship is unlikely to increase Oxford’s value at tribunal by much either – if the player does eventually leave the Hammers at the end of his current deal.
