West Ham co-owner David Gold has confirmed the club are concerned about the severity of Aaron Cresswell’s knee injury.
The Hammers left-back is to undergo a scan on the injury he sustained near the end of Saturday’s pre-season victory over Karlsruhe in Austria.
The 26-year-old was caught by a heavy challenge from Grischa Promel in the 3-0 win, requiring treatment on the field before he was eventually helped off the field with assistance from the Hammers’ medical staff.
Cresswell has missed just one Premier League game for the club since he was signed from Ipswich Town in 2014, but now faces an anxious wait to discover the extent of the damage.
Gold took to Twitter to confirm that the rumours the club had huge concerns over the outcome were accurate.
“We are apprehensive but it doesn’t look minor,” he said. “We await the scans in the next day or so good luck Aaron.”
