Guus Hiddink slams the idea of European Super League

Chelsea were one of the five top English clubs known to have been approached over an exclusive breakaway alternative to the Champions League.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and City were the others.

But while that would prevent Chelsea from missing out on Europe – which will happen next season if they stay in their current Premier League position of tenth – it was not something that appealed to the Dutchman.

He said: “I heard a bit, not details but I think it was more of a brainstorming session by the elite clubs about this.
