Guus Hiddink promises Chelsea will do all they can to beat Tottenham

Guus Hiddink has promised Chelsea will take on Tottenham at Stamford Bridge looking to win, and dent Mauricio Pochettino’s title hopes.

Chelsea will surrender their league title to either Spurs or Leicester in the coming weeks, and the club’s supporters are desperate for rivals Spurs not to claim the crown.

They chanted songs about the North London club whilst watching Hiddink’s men ease to a 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday, and the Dutch boss insists the Blues will be playing to spoil a potential Tottenham title party.

“I didn’t hear what the fans were singing because I was so focused on the game,” Hiddink said, despite some loud chants ringing around the Vitality Stadium.

“But we play the next game to win. And the next game is Tottenham.

“At the end the strongest team will win the league. And the strongest team is who deserves the league as well.

“We don’t want as Chelsea that the season fades away, that’s what we don’t want. And the players responded very well.”

Despite Bournemouth pressuring Chelsea in the first half, the game ended in a fairly resounding manner, with Eden Hazard bagging two goals and Willian and Pedro netting one each.

Cesc Fabregas was named man of the match, creating two goals for the Blues and dictating play in the middle of the park.

It was a return to form for the Spaniard, and Hiddink had words of praise for Chelsea’s star man.

“Cesc was enjoying it very much and he’s one of the few players who has this vision, very fast,” he continued.

“He knows when he’s on the ball he can execute what he’s thinking and creating. There’s not many players who can do that.

“And we know when, we practise that, we know when he’s on the ball that we have running players to get his very, very fast vision play effective.

“And that’s important.

“There were some decent games, but this is one of Cesc’s best.”
