Guus Hiddink believes it’s impossible to replace Chelsea skipper John Terry

“Can you make a John Terry? No”

Guus Hiddink

“He’s always motivated. I never had one training session with him where I’ve had said ‘hey, John, you were not there’.

“Of course you can help young talent a bit. But it’s a difficult job.

“Can you make a John Terry? No, you must have the deep down fire in your body, in your soul.

“I don’t like to complain a lot but at the time we did not go through in the FA Cup and Champions League, we had a bit of lack of players also in central defence.

“Of course we missed John. What a team likes is to have competition for that position. He will react if there’s competition: ‘don’t touch my spot.’
