Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is confident Gonzalo Higuain will not ‘betray’ the club by joining Chelsea or Liverpool.
The striker was on fire last season and set a new Serie A record after finishing the campaign with 36 league goals.
That form has sparked interest from clubs all over Europe, with Chelsea and Liverpool reportedly leading the way.
However Napoli president, De Laurentiis, believes that Higuain will snub any forthcoming offers to stay where he is.
“He is young and his family has high moral values,” De Laurentiis told Corriere della Sera. “I have the feeling that he will not betray us.
“And I have not received any offer equalling the value of the buy-out clause, €94 million.
“Even in the case of a club offering that sum, he could still remain, because there is no other team that can offer him the passion and the importance that he is receiving here.
“Maradona entered the world’s football history thanks to Napoli, and Higuain should understand that there is no context in which he would be appreciated like he is here.”
