Gonzalo Higuain: Napoli striker fails to attend pre-season training as Arsenal target nears Juventus move

Gonzalo Higuain failed to report for pre-season training at Napoli, intensifying speculation that he is on the verge of a move to Juventus.

The 28-year-old is a target for Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, having hit a record-breaking 36 Serie A goals last term. The Gunners are in the market for a new striker this summer and the Argentine is on their radar.

However, Italian champions Juve are thought to be at the front of the queue, with reports on Saturday suggesting the Serie A giants activated a £75m release clause.

And, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Higuain did not show up at Napoli’s first day of pre-season training camp in Dimaro.

Now it has been suggested that his switch to Juve could be complete within 48 hours, with a four-year deal set to be signed by the striker.
