West Ham co-owner David Gold insists the Hammers can win the Europa League after securing a place in the qualifying round.
The Hammers have qualified for the competition for the second successive campaign, although they failed to reach the group stage last term.
West Ham laboured through the first two rounds of qualifying before losing 4-3 on aggregate to Romanian outfit Astra Giurgiu.
Gold believes that Liverpool, who finished below West Ham in the Premier League this season, have proven its possible to reach the final as they did in 2015-16, losing to Sevilla 3-1.
The 79-year-old insists that the Hammers will put their full efforts into trying to claim the piece of silverware as they prepare for a first season in the Olympic Stadium.
“Liverpool showed it is possible to go all the way,” Gold told the club’s website.
“They were very unlucky to lose in the Final. We should take this competition seriously – and we are good enough to win it.”
