The 25-year-old was one of the first signings made by Baggies boss Tony Pulis in the summer transfer window when he joined in a £5million switch from Queens Park Rangers.

Phillips has started every game so far this term and is becoming a key player in Albion’s attacking options, having teed up Nacer Chadli to score in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland before the international break.

However, he is the only forward player not to get on the scoresheet and the former Blackpool star is determined to get amongst the goals alongside the likes of Chadli, James McClean and Salomon Rondon.

Phillips told the Express & Star: “I love crossing, I love beating my man, but also I need to add more goals to my game.

“The manager has said that he believes in me, believes I can do that, so hopefully that will come. The last two or three games we’ve created a lot of chances. Me and James are quick and Nacer knows how to find that pass that gets you in.

“It’s looking exciting as it is, but it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing more. The more we get to know each other, the more things will happen.”

He added: “It’s given me a new lease of life coming here. I’m really enjoying it and I’m happy every day. It was a bit of a slow start for the first couple of games but it gave me something to build on.

“I’m in the manager’s starting XI which is great for me. I’ve grown into it and I’m looking to get my best form going.”
