Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent has fuelled speculation he could join leave Sunderland for Chelsea this summer.
The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at Bologna after struggling to make an impact at the Stadium of Light and he’s expected to leave this summer on a permanent basis.
Bologna are keen to sign the Italy international permanently but Giaccherini’s focus is on Euro 2016, where he has been handed starts in both of Italy’s matches so far by Azzurri coach Antonio Conte.
The incoming Chelsea boss is clearly a big fan of Giaccherini after also working with him at Juventus and his agent has admitted a surprise move to Stamford Bridge could be a possibility for his client.
“Giaccherini is a player who played 80 per cent of the games for a Juventus that had Pogba, Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio in the midfield,” Furio Valcareggi told Italian outlet SportItalia.
“Conte likes him a lot and Chelsea would be a dream.
“It’s still too early to talk about his future. After the Euros, whoever wants to buy him will not have to pay a high price to Sunderland.”
