Remi Garde says he is trying to stay strong and inspire his Aston Villa players to pull off a remarkable escape from relegation.
The Villans lost for the 20th time in the Premier League this campaign at the weekend, leaving them marooned at the foot of the table, nine points from safety with games fast running out.
Despite their attempts to avoid relegation now looking forlorn, Garde says he will not let his players stop fighting and hopes to find the right words to motivate them in the face of an increasingly desperate situation.
“I love football. I hate defeats. Five defeats in a row – I am not sure I have experienced that before in my whole career,” he told Villa’s website.
“I am relying on myself to be strong and find the right words for the players.
“When I see that Tottenham game, I feel that the players hear what I say. We will now go to Swansea and try to win.”
