Arsenal are lining up Leicester City superstar Riyad Mahrez as a replacement for Theo Walcott, who looks set to move on.
Reports emerged over the weekend suggesting that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is willing to let Walcott go, with Liverpool said to be eyeing a summer swoop.
Walcott is keen to move on as his chances of playing as an out-and-out striker for the Gunners remain slim, and there will be no shortage of interest in him.
Wenger is planning an overhaul of his squad in the close season and it has been suggested he will make a move for Mahrez, who has been outstanding for the Foxes this season and is on course to be named player of the year.
Leicester will struggle to keep him – even if they win the Premier League – but they will be able to demand a fee in the region of £25million for the playmaker.
The valuation will not be a problem for Arsenal, but competition from rival clubs could be, with Barcelona known to be keen to take him to the Nou Camp.
