Four wins since 1998 – Tottenham’s dreadful record at Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea

If there is one message that keeps being repeated, it is that Tottenham Hotspur will not win the Premier League until they improve their away record against their title rivals.

Since Mauricio Pochettino took charge of the north London club, Spurs have won only ONE match at the homes of their top six rivals. A 2-1 win at Manchester City in February 2016 – Pochettino’s eighth game against a fellow top six side – is the only victory so far.

The rest of their record reads six draws and nine defeats away from home, including Saturday afternoon’s 1-0 loss at the hands of Manchester United, which leaves Spurs eight points behind league leaders Manchester City.

However, while this away record criticism has been aimed at Pochettino, it is actually something that has affected the club for a long, long time.

In fact, since 1998 Spurs have played 86 away matches against the quartet of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea – and have won only FOUR times.
