Five things we learned from Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton as league title race heats up

Welbeck for England

It was a year this week that Danny Welbeck last pulled on an England jersey, scoring in a routine 4-0 win over Lithuania, and much has changed in the interim. The rise of Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane has complicated the pecking order for Roy Hodgson.

But Welbeck showed not just with the opening goal here, but his all round display, why managers rate him so highly. He is a favourite of Hodgson and do not be surprised if the England coach flies in the face of public opinion this summer and selects Welbeck in his line-up for Euro 2016.

Everton (4-2-3-1): Robles 6; Coleman 6, Jagielka 6, Funes Mori 5, Baines 6; McCarthy 5, Besic 4 (Stones 45 6); Lennon 6, Barkley 5 (Deulofeu 73 6), Cleverley 5; Lukaku 6.
