Cheikhou Kouyate has expressed his delight at signing a new five-year contract with West Ham United.
The defensive midfielder, who has been used as an emergency centre-back at times this season, has been an integral part of the first team since arriving at the Boleyn Ground in 2014.
He has made 56 Premier League appearances – scoring eight goals in the process – and his impressive all-action performances have helped put the club right in the hunt for a Champions League place this term.
Kouyate has been rewarded with a long-term extension and he is looking forward to carrying on his Hammers career in new surroundings next season.
“I am happy to have renewed my contract with West Ham. I am very happy and would like to thank everybody here at the club, the manager, the fans and also my parents,” he said on the clubÂ’s official website.
“I think that it is the start of the next chapter for us to go on and discover the new Stadium.”
