Expected line-up: How Big Sam could send England out in a 4-1-4-1 formation

3 Sep

Based on his most recent successes with Sunderland, we’re expecting him to go with a 4-1-4-1 formation with one player holding the fort and shielding the defence while two attacking midfielders sit between a speedy forward trio.

With Michail Antonio and Theo Walcott‘s inclusions, Allardyce has added more speed and could create a higher-quality version of the attacking trident of Fabio Borini, Wahbi Khazri and Jermain Defoe which did the business at the Stadium of Light in the latter part of last season.

Allardyce will also want to make sure there is a clear difference between his and Hodgson’s teams, so we expect some other changes in personnel.
