Everton are planning to offer Romelu Lukaku a new deal in a bid to ward off interest from Chelsea.
Chelsea sold the striker to Everton in the summer of 2014 for a £28million fee but the Londoners want to bring the Belgian back to Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku has expressed a desire to play Champions League football and is believed to be open to a return to Chelsea, despite the fact they are absent from Europe’s top competition this season.
However, Chelsea are yet to match Everton’s reported £75million price tag, which seems a reasonable valuation for the 23-year-old in the current climate given Gonzalo Higuain’s 90million euros switch from Napoli to Juventus, and their highest offer to date is thought to be around £57million.
With Everton unwilling to lower their asking price and Chelsea reluctant to match it reports have claimed the Goodison Park outfit are planning to offer Lukaku a new and improved deal.
The forward is currently under contract until the summer of 2019 but the club intend to open talks with the striker and agent Mino Raiola in a bid to convince Lukaku to sign a fresh deal and extend his stay, which would put an end to any speculation over his future for the time being.
