Everton failed with bids for Fiorentina forward Nikola Kalinic and Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini this summer.
The pair, who both have Vincenzo Morabito as their agent, impressed in Serie A last season for their respective clubs.
And now Morabito has revealed that Everton tried but failed to sign one of his clients before transfer deadline day.
“Initially, Everton showed interest in Fiorentina’s Kalinic,” Morabito told Radio Bruno Toscana.
“But they could not do the operation because of the will of [Fiorentina manager Paulo] Sousa, who would not allow the player to leave.
“Then, Everton went on for Manolo Gabbiadini, with Napoli panicking to find a replacement.
“The Neapolitans have tried for Kalinic, but Fiorentina rightly fired up. Everton offered an interesting figure for Kalinic.”
