Unai Emery has responded to speculation he is the lead contender for the vacant Everton job by stating “I’m very good at Sevilla”.
The Spaniard has shot to the top of Everton’s wishlist to replace the recently departed Roberto Martinez and reports on Monday indicated representatives from the Merseyside club have made contact with the 44-year-old.
Emery is said to be keen on coaching in England at some point in his career but Sevilla do not want to lose the man who recently guided them to a third successive Europa League title with victory over Liverpool in last week’s final.
Despite having just over a year left to run on his contract, Emery has now indicated to Tu Periodico Deportivo he is not itching to leave Andalusia.
Meanwhile, Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi has claimed that Emery, who has also been linked with AC Milan, has no interest in moving on and says he has already agreed to stay at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
“He has renewed with Sevilla, even before the Europa League Final,” he told Calciomercato.com.
