Everton are being linked with a move for Lyon’s Algeria international Rachid Ghezzal but face a battle to land him.
New boss Ronald Koeman is desperate to add to his squad and is flush with cash following the sale of John Stones to Manchester City on Tuesday, and the 24-year-old is a possible target.
The winger was a star in the French top-flight last season and that caught the attention of Everton and Premier League rivals West Ham.
Lyon have not given up hope of keeping him and are in negotiations over a new contract but an agreement has not yet been reached and, as he is about to enter the final year of his present deal, they do not want to see him walk away for nothing in a year’s time.
Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie appears to be the top of Koeman’s list but so far they have not managed to persuade the Eagles to part company with him so Ghezzal could be an alternative.
