Meanwhile, Koeman revealed why he turned down the chance to stay at Southampton to make the switch to Everton on a three-year contract worth £6m a year.
The former Netherlands and Barcelona star insisted he would have stayed at St Mary’s but wasn’t given the option of completing the final 12 months of his three-year contract.
Koeman – who cost Everton £5m in compensation – added: “My first option was to continue at Southampton, to do my last season of contract, but it was not possible.
“They said it’s not good because we like to know the future. I then got a proposal from Southampton and in my opinion, it was not what I liked to see.
“Then the whole Everton story came out and the interest and also the interest from my part.”
