Everton are said to be in the running to sign Hoffenheim centre-half Niklas Sule but they face a battle with Spurs and Arsenal.
Reports from Germany claim all three clubs had scouts at Hoffenheim’s recent clash with Schalke and that the 21-year-old defender was the subject of their interest.
Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka are the current first choice pairing for Everton boss Ronald Koeman but they are both the wrong side of 30 and the club will be aware that they need to strengthen that area in the near future.
As well as Everton, Spurs and Arsenal, there were lalso scouts from Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Valencia watching Sule.
He has one international cap for Germany and still has three years left on his present deal at Hoffenheim.
