Everton have seen a bid for left-back Djibril Sidibe rejected by Ligue 1 outfit Lille, according to reports in France.
La Voix du Nord newspaper claim the managerless Merseyside club have tabled a £10million proposal for the 23-year-old defender, who is on Didier Deschamps’ standby list for France’s Euro 2016 squad.
Lille are understood to have dismissed the offer – demanding nothing less than £12m as a starting point for negotiations as they remember how Nice managed to get a similar amount for another uncapped full-back in Jordan Amavi’s case last summer.
Everton will face competition though as Premier League rivals Watford have also been tipped to make a move and Arsenal are also understood to have scouted the full-back, while Lyon are also believed to be planning a move for the defender.
Everton’s interest appears strange as they are well stocked in the position with Leighton Baines, Bryan Oviedo and Brendan Galloway all having featured there last season.
