Everton have been offered the chance to sign Spaniard Victor Valdes on a free transfer as their search for a new goalkeeper continues.
The Toffees are thought to be keen on bringing in an experienced shot-stopper after Tim Howard left the club as concerns having been raised as to whether Joel Robles is a suitable long-term successor to the American.
So far, the Merseysiders have been linked with Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel, Ajax gloveman Jasper Cillessen and Manchester City custodian Joe Hart, with former Barcelona stopper Valdes the latest name to join that list.
Reports suggest the Champions League and World Cup winner has been offered to Everton after his release from Manchester United at the end of last season, with the 34-year-old managing just two league appearances for the Red Devils in his 18 months at Old Trafford.
New Everton boss Ronald Koeman has worked with Valdes before during their time together at Barcelona and could be tempted to add the experienced keeper to his ranks.
