West Brom have told Jonny Evans he won’t be leaving the Hawthorns during the current transfer window amid links with Arsenal.
The Gunners have a number of injury problems in defence and have been linked with a swoop for Evans, but the Baggies are not looking to sell.
There have been claims that Albion have demanded a £25million fee for Evans but those reports appear misguided, and it seems unlikely Arsenal would be prepared to pay such a figure for the 28-year-old regardless.
Arsenal are yet to make an official bid for the former Manchester United man but it seems as if any offer would be rebuffed as West Brom head coach Tony Pulis would not sanction an exit for Evans.
The news comes as yet another setback to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who is also said to have pulled the plug on a move for Valencia’s German international defender Shkodran Mustafi.
