Eric Dier under pressure at Tottenham after England disaster

The defensive midfielder was lucky his brainless backpass didn’t cost the Three Lions a goal in the 0-0 draw in Slovenia on Tuesday night.

Dier and Jordan Henderson struggled in a new-look midfield – and that’s exactly what Mauricio Pochettino has conjured up at Spurs.

The Argentinean remains a big fan of Dier, who learned his football in Portugal as a kid.

But Pochettino has started playing with just one midfielder in front of the defence – a role summer signing Victor Wanyama, who played under him at Southampton, carried out superbly in the 2-0 win over Manchester City before the international break.
