Eric Black: Southampton assistant manager named in corruption claims

Southampton assistant manager Eric Black has been allegedly filmed giving advice on paying “bungs” to football club officials.

In the ongoing corruption claims revealed by the Daily Telegraph, the former Aston Villa caretaker boss was named as revealing how bribes could tempt managers into passing on information about players to to a company.

Such dealings are against Football Association rules, which state: intermediaries “must not give, offer or seek to offer, any consideration of any kind” to a club official “in return for any benefit, service, favour or any kind of preferential treatment”.

Any approach from a third company should be immediately reported to the FA.

Earlier in the evening, Southampton released a statement announcing they will fully investigate the reports involving Black.
