England striker Harry Kane practising set pieces ahead of Euro 2016 opener against Russia

The Tottenham striker raised a few eyebrows when he became the go-to man for corners and free-kicks in the friendly against Portugal at Wembley on Thursday night.

And if he can weigh in with a few goals, too, his contribution could prove to be a game-changer and boost England’s Euro hopes.

Kane said: “The manager asked me to take them. We’ve been doing some work on them in training and he’s been happy with the delivery. We’ve been trying different things.

“The first corner didn’t come off but it’s something you work on.

“If the manager wants me to take them in the first game against Russia then I’ll be there to take them.”
