England news: Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs called up to Three Lions squad after injury to Ryan Bertrand

Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has been called up to replace Ryan Bertrand, with the Southampton star pulling out after picking up an injury in Saturday’s win over Malta.

Bertrand started the 2-0 win, but was taken off after 19 minutes and replaced by Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

With a game against Slovenia coming up on Tuesday, Bertrand has been replaced by Gibbs to ensure caretaker manager Gareth Southgate has cover for the left-back position.

Gibbs has previously won 10 caps for the Three Lions, making his last appearance in 2015.
