It’s understood Stoke are set to sign teenage forward Ramadan Sobhi from Egyptian club Al Ahly, despite interest from Italy.
The 19-year-old has been a regular at his current club, managed by former Tottenham boss Martin Jol, in the last six months and helped Al Ahly to win their domestic title in June.
Sobhi has already played for Egypt at full international level and his performances have caught the eye of several European clubs, including two Serie A outfits.
But it’s Stoke that are leading the chase for his signature and it’s believed that the Potters could have a deal wrapped up in the next fortnight, although there are concerns over a work permit.
If a deal is finalised, it is likely to cost Stoke in the region of £3million but at the age of just 19, it could prove to be a very good bit of business for Mark Hughes.
