Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has rubbished reports he wants to raid his old club Newcastle to sign youngster Liam Gibson.
The Toon starlet was this week linked with a move to the capital having caught the eye this season with his performances for the Under-21s, while he has yet to sign a professional contract with the north-east outfit.
The 18-year-old’s potential availability was said to have put Pardew on alert, the Eagles manager having first been made aware of the youngster while he was in charge at St James’ Park.
However, when asked about whether there was any truth in the rumours he is pursuing a move for Gibson, Pardew replied: “None whatsoever.”
Newcastle are now expected to offer the teenager professional terms in the hope of avoiding any further speculation over Gibson’s future.
