Stoke have been told to forget about making a move for Dynamo Kiev star Andriy Yarmolenko because they are not a big enough club.
The amazing claim has been made by Dynamo president Ihor Surkis, who would only be willing to sell his star man to a club challenging for honours.
Despite having a squad that includes star names such as Xherdan Shaqiri, Bojan and Jack Butland, Surkis believes that Yarmolenko should set his sights higher.
“If I get an offer that will suit Dynamo and Yarmolenko wants to go to this club, I’ll let him,” Surkis told Ukranian news outlet UNIAN. “My position is that we should not let Yarmolenko go to such clubs as like Everton and Stoke City.
“Dynamo is Dynamo and Stoke City is Stoke. We’re playing in the Champions League, and Stoke City are fighting for survival.”
Surkis clearly needs to check the Premier League table to see what area of it Stoke are competing in, but his comments will not go down well at the Britannia Stadium.
It has been suggested that Stoke could re-ignite there interest in Yarmolenko following the serious injury to Ibrahim Afellay.
