Louis van Gaal has been offered a way out of Man Utd by the Dutch FA, who want him as technical director for the Netherlands team.
The 64-year-old’s tenure is widely expected to come to an end once the current campaign has reached its conclusion, despite the fact the Red Devils still have a chance to secure silverware in the FA Cup and make the Premier League’s top four.
Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked with succeeding Van Gaal in the Old Trafford dugout with some reports suggesting he has already agreed a deal to takeover.
Van Gaal still has a year left on his United contract and has been steadfast in his belief he is the right man to turn United’s fortunes around.
However, should he feel time is up then the Dutch FA, the KNVB, are ready to offer him a new job as technical director, overseeing the development of youngsters to fully fledged Netherlands’ internationals.
The Independent claims the country’s director of professional football, Bert van Oostveen, will not try to lure Van Gaal away from Old Trafford but has made it clear the position is his should he decide to walkaway from his current job.
