Stoke are among the clubs reported to be tracking Dutch starlet Luc Castaignos from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 23-year-old forward has only really enjoyed success in his homeland, with FC Twente and Feyenoord, having reached double figures in goals in four seasons.
Castaignos had a stint at Inter Milan between Feyenoord and Twente but only scored one goal in six appearances with the Italian giants.
His successful three seasons with Twente prompted Eintracht Frankfurt to take him to the German Bundesliga last summer but he again struggled for form, with just four goals from 19 league outings.
Despite Castaignos appearing to struggle with a step up from the Dutch Eredivisie, it has not stopped English clubs from expressing an interest with several from the Championship, including Newcastle and Norwich, linked.
However, there is also interest from the Premier League with Stoke boss Mark Hughes said to be interested, while Southampton have also been mentioned.
Hughes is keen to add to his attack and remains in the hunt for Saido Berahino, but it would appear that Castaignos is also on his list of potential targets.
