Dundee forward Greg Stewart has turned down the opportunity to join Birmingham City after a fee in the region of £500,000 plus add-ons was agreed.
Stewart – in the final year of his Dundee contract – has netted 32 goals since joining from Cowdenbeath in 2014.
He missed Saturday’s win over Ross County through injury.
However Stewart, 26, is expected to be back in contention for the upcoming Saturday lunchtime meeting with Rangers at Dens Park this weekend.
Last month, Dundee manager Paul Hartley said: “I don’t think we can replace Greg Stewart. Hopefully we can keep him for another year, but you never know.”
Birmingham opened their Championship campaign with a scoreless draw with Cardiff City on Saturday and were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Oxford United in Tuesday’s first-round tie.
