Borussia Dortmund are reportedly demanding over £30million from Manchester United for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and are eyeing a replacement.
The Bundesliga giants’ stance that the Armenian international was not for sale appears to be weakening with the player’s agent also having ramped up the pressure by declaring United as Mkhitaryan’s ‘dream move’.
The 27-year-old has been the subject of a bid of almost £20million so far while some media outlets have claimed United have upped the offer to £28million.
According to Kicker, Dortmund still don’t want to let him go and are asking for an ‘over the odds’ payment of £30.75m – an astronomical sum for a player who is out of contract in 12 months’ time.
United will have to consider their next move carefully but a desire to give new manager Jose Mourinho their full backing could tip the Red Devils’ board toward paying the asking price.
Dortmund are understood to be targeting former Mourinho signing Andre Schurrle, now at Wolfsburg, as Mkhitaryan’s potential replacement.
