Aston Villa’s hopes of signing Graham Dorrans this summer look set to be dashed as Norwich are poised reject any offers for him.
Dorrans found first team opportunities hard to come by at Carrow Road last season with just 14 starts as the club suffered relegation to the Championship.
The Scotland international has been linked with a switch to Villa and the move would see him reunited with manager Roberto Di Matteo and assistant Steve Clarke, both of whom managed him in his time at West Bromwich Albion.
However, Canaries boss Alex O’Neil is said to have the 29-year-old in his plans for the next campaign and will reject any advances for the midfielder this summer.
Dorrans played a key part in helping the club earn promotion from the Championship in the 2014/15 season and his experience could prove crucial to the chances of repeating this.
The Scot, who started his career at Livingston, will want assurances on his position in the first team but it appears he could be staying at Norwich for at least one more year.
