Aston Villa may miss out on Roberto Di Matteo, with reports suggesting the former West Brom boss is planning to hold talks with Lazio.
The former Chelsea coach reportedly spoke to the Villans earlier this week before Randy Lerner sold the club to Chinese businessman Dr Tony Jiantong Xia.
Di Matteo resigned at Schalke 12 months ago after a seven-month spell and Villa have reportedly made him their number one target.
However, reports have now claimed the former midfielder has flown to Rome for discussions with Lazio.
The Serie A giants are looking to replace caretaker boss Simone Inzaghi after finishing eighth in Serie A.
