Derby are lining up a £6m move for West Brom’s James Chester and he is reportedly keen to link up with his former boss Nigel Pearson.
The Daily Mail claim the ambitious Championship club are looking to seal a swoop for the Wales international, who was not an automatic selection for Baggies head coach Tony Pulis last season.
Chester is seeking assurances about his future at The Hawthorns this summer following a difficult first season following his £8million transfer from Hull.
The 27-year-old ex-Manchester United youth player made just 14 appearances in all competitions – with most of those coming as a right-back.
Rams boss Pearson signed Chester for Hull in 2011 for £300,000 and played a big part in developing his talent as a fearless centre-back with a reputation for being a big aerial threat from set pieces.
However, Derby could face competition for Chester’s services from Swansea City, who are also thought to be admirers after his performances at Euro 2016.
