Jose Mourinho wants written confirmation that he will become Manchester United manager in the summer, according to The Sun.
The ex-Chelsea boss has been the favourite to take over at Old Trafford since he was sacked by the Stamford Bridge club just before Christmas, but key figures at United appear to be against the move.
The Sun claim the Portuguese tactician is beginning to worry that Louis van Gaal could now see out the final year of his contract at United after public backing from Sir Alex Ferguson.
And Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported on Tuesday that Van Gaal would indeed remain in charge next term.
Mourinho is now reported to have asked for a formal job offer in writing so he can start to make proper plans for next season, although it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this denied in the next few days.
