Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe is determined to help Spurs win the title by ensuring Sunderland beat Leicester next weekend.
The 33-year-old frontman is hoping he can score the goals that keep the Black Cats in the Premier League and if he can also help Spurs pick up the title along the way then all well and good.
The former England frontman – who still has hopes of gaining a place in the England squad for Euro 2016 – is up against West Brom this weekend but then in a weeks’ time it is table-topping Leicester who are the opponents.
“Leicester are a great team. What they’ve done there this year is an unbelievable story” he told Sunderland’s official website.
“But I’d like to win that game – and then at the end of the season we’re safe and Tottenham win the league.”
