Arsenal have been boosted by the news Carl Jenkinson is set to return to training after almost 10 months on the sidelines.
The defender picked up an anterior ligament injury while on loan at West Ham United back in January and has been battling back to fitness ever since.
Jenkinson’s future at the Emirates Stadium was looking in doubt after being sent out on loan and he now faces a fight to show Arsene Wenger he is worthy of a place in his squad.
Hector Bellerin is Wenger’s first choice but Jenkinson will be hoping to push him all the way and, in turn, push Mathieu Debuchy further down the pecking order.
Jenkinson took to social media to reveal his delight at the prospect of returning to training, when tweeting: “Back in full training tomorrow. Feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve.”
It is not all good news on the injury front though as Francis Coquelin picked up a knee injury in the 3-0 demolition of Chelsea at the weekend and could be facing months on the sidelines.
