Sunderland and Everton have yet to agree a deal for defender Lamine Kone that will suit both parties.

Kone will return to training on Wearside on Wednesday amid speculation that Everton have tabled an £18million bid for him.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international is understood to have been on Merseyside in recent days after failing to receive an improved contract offer from the Black Cats, but no deal is yet in place.

Black Cats boss David Moyes wants to take Phil Jagielka to the Stadium of Light as part of the deal that would see Kone go in the other direction but there is still more negotiation to come before a deal is struck.
