Hull have been handed an unexpected boost with the news Michael Dawson could be back in action sooner rather than later.
The Tigers suffered a huge blow when their skipper damaged knee ligaments in pre-season and was ruled out of first-team duty until at least November.
However, the experienced defender is reported to have made a remarkable recovery and could be back in the thoughts of caretaker boss Mike Phelan earlier than expected.
The Tigers will be very reluctant to set a return date, but it has been suggested the former Tottenham star could be available when they take on Chelsea on October 1.
The 32-year-old has returned to light training this week, and as long as there are no setbacks, the former England international could soon be knocking on Phelan’s door.
