David Moyes looked a broken man: West Ham should have got Chris Hughton – Neil Ruddock

And the infamous Premier League hard-man concedes he would have picked Chris Hughton as Irons boss instead.

Moyes is preparing for his first game in charge of the Hammers against Watford on Sunday, following his appointment as successor to the axed Slaven Bilic last week.

After leaving Everton, Moyes failed at Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland – who he couldn’t save from Premier League relegation last season.

‘Razor’ Ruddock revealed was disappointed West Ham didn’t pay to bring Hughton back to the club from his current post at Brighton.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “As soon as I heard it was David Moyes, I just visualised him sitting on the bench at Sunderland – a broken man.
