Damien Delaney: Christian Benteke signing isn’t enough to save Palace

Kane said: “I thought we played very well together. He likes to hold it up, is strong and brings others into play, and we created a lot of chances.

“On another day we could both have scored a couple of goals. If the manager wants us to play together during the season we are more than capable.

“I think we will create a lot of chances and score a lot of goals. I played No.10 throughout my whole youth team career and growing up so I’m used to that position.

“When I first got in the team it was in that position. It feels like a long time ago now but of course I am happy to play that role and it went well.

“Vincent is a great player. I’m sure we will both score goals this season, as will others.

“The gaffer will probably change it throughout the season. It is his decision. We know we can play together. We know we have good options.”
